COMEBACK FOR BRITISH BANDY IN A CHAMPIONSHIP!
Great Britain debuts in the World Championship Group B! Most of the players usually plays in Swedish bandy leagues. It is players with dual citizenship who are now given the chance to represent their home country. The team has now played their first games since 1913. The team met Villa and got beaten by 9-1 and then the Great Britain played at Zinkensdamm in Stockholm and beat Hammarbys U20 team. Great Britain won by 11-0. It is an optimistic team that has now been gathered in Vänersborg. Anders Gidrup, chairman of Hammarby Bandy, is the initiator of the GB’s World Championship participation. He now has help from the old great players and profiles from the county of Hälsingland, Hans Åström and Patrik Larsson.
The last time England were European champions was in 1913. The entry in World Championship will be made as a Great Britain Bandy Team! Encompassing England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
