2022 FIB WORLD CUP OLDBOYS


This World Cup tournament was played in Haparanda, Sweden, November 18-19.

The World Cup Oldboys have been played in Finnish Laappenranta for many years. But as that city is waiting for the indoor arena to be built 2022 years tournament was held in Haparanda. Hammarby Oldboys from Sweden was the winning team among 4 participating teams. Hammarby won the final game against OLS Uleåborg by 2-1.

WC Oldboys is a tournament for mature players from 45 years. This year had an exemption when two players in each team could be from 40 years.


Russian teams have been very successful in this oldboys tournament thru the years. This tournament had no participation from Russia due to the war in Ukraine.


The teams in this tournament was Team Unisport (with players from Haparanda, Tornio, Kalix and Kemi), Hammarby Oldboys, OLS Uleåborg and Veiterä Veterans.


Hammarby Oldboys won all of their games. First 3 games when all the teams played against each other. Hammarby had a real success. The team beat OLS Uleåborg 1-0, Team Unisport 3-2 and Veiterä Veterans 3-1.

OLS Uleåborg and Hammarby won each semifinal. OLS defeated Team Unisport 3-0 and Hammarby won against Veiterä 5-1.

In the bronze game Team Unisport won against Veiterä 10-0.

The final game between OLS Uleåborg and Hammarby Oldboys ended 2-1 to Hammarby and big final hero was Hans-Elis Johansson. He scored both goals for the winning team.
