2020 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS MEN




THE A-CHAMPIONSHIP
The A-Championship 2020 will be held in the new indoor ice palace “Baikal” in Irkutsk. The arena is now being built. Here you can see a Russian film about the arena and you can also watch live webcam from the ongoing construction.
The A-Championship is played March 29-April 5.


THE B-CHAMPIONSHIP
The B-Championship will be played in Irkutsk and Shelekhov. The time of this tournament has recently been adjusted to March 1-6. The main arena will be Rekord. Games will also be played at the arenas Zenite and Trude in Irkutsk and Stroitele in Shelekhov, but only if the weather permits and the ice on these arenas is of good quality. These arenas have natural ice, but the Rekord arena has artificial ice.

Lake Baikal

Irkutsk is one of the largest cities in Siberia in Russia, located on the Baikal Lake shore in southern Siberia. Baikal Lake is the largest lake in the world by volume, and the deepest lake in the world with a maximum depth of 1 642 m. Irkutsk is a significant military city and seat of the Archbishop of the Russian Orthodox Church. The city is 5 185 km by rail from Moscow.

Irkutsk grew up around settlements established in 1653 by Ivan Pochabov for the collection of taxes from the locals. In 1760, the first road link was established between Moscow and Irkutsk, which contributed to rapid economic development. Trade with China increased.

620 099 people live in Irkutsk. Trud Stadium is an outdoor arena with a public capacity of 16 500 spectators. In 2020 the new indoor arena is ready to welcome the World Championships for men Group A, March 28-April 5.

Irkutsk is home town for Russian Superleague team Baikal Energy.

You wrote "as much as 10 teams", but there are only 9 teams. In the schedule, USA is listed in both group tables. In fact, there are only 4 teams in Group B (USA should not be there).
