Arkhangelsk is a city in Russia with about 350,000 inhabitants. The city’s name refers to the Archangel Michael. The city is located on the river North Dvina near its outlet in the Gulf of Dvin in the White Sea, in the European part of Russia, near Severodvinsk and Pervomajsky in the north.
Archangelsk is the administrative capital of Arkhangelsk oblast. It was Russia’s most important port city in the Middle Ages and up to the founding of Saint Petersburg in 1703.
Arkhangelsk is home town for Vodnik bandy team in the Russian Super League.
